Visiting Ft Worth

A couple of weeks ago we got to go and see Daniel and Lydia, Nathaniel's brother and wife, and their darling new baby girl, Darby. The girls loved Darby! Madeleine wanted to hold her all of the time, Victoria would sit and smile at her and talk to her while she sat in her bouncy seat, and Nicholas liked to steal her binki and then run as fast as he could with it in his mouth laughing the whole way. I hope the girls want to be so helpful when our baby comes! I might be in trouble with Nicholas. Every time he would see me holding Darby he would point to her seat and then pat it and grunt. He was always trying to tell me to put her down.

While we were visiting them Nathaniel and Nicholas took off to St Louis to have his follow up for his feet. Lydia and I took the girls to the Ft Worth Zoo. We had origionally planned on going on a little train that is close to the zoo but we found out that it was closed on Mondays. After trying a couple other ideas that would have been indoor and those not working out, we ended up at the zoo. The girls were so excited! Midland does not have any sort of zoo so we do not get the privilege of going very often.

After a short feeding break and a sunscreen lather we got on our way to look at the animals.
Our first stop was the gorilla. As soon as he saw the girls at the window he headed over to them. He sat and looked at them, stuck his lip out at them and was basically entertaining them. They thought it was great!

The next best thing for them was feeding the birds. There were hundreds of the most amazingly colored birds I have ever seen. Victoria was able to get quite a few of them on her stick. Madeleine had a little harder time but she finally got one and it made her day!

It was excrusiatingly hot that day, especially to people not used to the humidity. :) The girls found some misters that were leaking and had a great time cooling off.

We headed up to the Texas Wild area and found a nice indoor play area. While Darby grabbed a snack and Lydia and I rested the girls had a great time playing. Here is Madeleine showing her skills at milking a plastic cow.

Once we were cooled off we went to look at more animals but it quickly became evident that the girls had had enough. Truthfully so had their mom and I was glad to be done! Since they had wanted to ride a train so badly we decided to hop on the zoo train back to the enterance. The girls loved it, even though it only lasted about 2 minutes. They still talk about the Yellow Rose express.

We had a great time visiting family. The girls love going to Daniel and Lydia's house. They are excellent hosts that show the girls a grand time. The only down side was not being able to see our friends in Granbury. :( Hopefully next time! We can't wait to head back that way and visit again.

Can't wait to check out that zoo myself. Poor Claire has never been to a zoo (and I don't often get to say "poor Claire".) I hope you'll add us to your list of people to visit while in Dallas.

Looks like you guys had fun. We haven't been to the zoo this year. We need to go when it cools down, the zoo is always a great time. I can't believe how long Victoria's hair is getting. Hopefully we will see you guys soon!
